Wasatch was founded in 1975 by Sam Stewart, PhD, then a University of Utah professor who took issue with the prevailing academic efficient-market mindset. Given Wasatch’s remoteness from Wall Street, the early team developed its own theory and approach to investing. From the very beginning, independence has characterized Wasatch’s identity and collaboration has characterized its culture. As our process of identifying quality growth companies proved successful in both U.S. and international markets, we gradually expanded our offerings.
Throughout four-plus decades of investing, Wasatch has withstood market fluctuations and industry changes—growing organically and thoughtfully. Today, as we explore investment opportunities around the world that span market caps, we do so with the same spirit of intellectual curiosity and collaboration we’ve applied for decades. We know of no better way to deliver the best possible returns for our clients.
